My friend sent me this link to what I think is the funnest news story I've ever heard. The headline read, "French Police arrest Serial Garden Gnome Thief," and once I read that I'm hooked because I like things that are funny. And a garden gnome thief is funny to me. I picture him sneaking around at night with a black ski mask taking old lady's gnomes. I bet he waits for the right moment in his car until they go to sleep then he runs up and takes it.
Well the story goes on to say, "A 53-year-old man is suspected of the thefts of 170 garden gnomes. However, it is proving difficult to return the gnomes to their real owners-the thief painted them different colors, making identification tricky." How in the world does a man steal 170 garden gnomes, I mean where do you put that many gnomes? Is he building a little army with the gnomes to take over France? I couldn't have come up with something this funny if I tried. here's a link to the story.

I used to participate in garden gnome theft. Once I took one by sititng down in front of it and sliding it up the back of my shirt. Another time my roomates and I drove 40 miles to steal one. Yet another time my roomate took one from someone's dorm room while they were unknowingly watching television. All of the gnomes were unharmed and returned to their owners.
